Tooth Extractions and Wisdom Teeth
Tooth Extractions
There are a number of reasons why tooth extractions may be needed. A very common reason involves a tooth that is too badly damaged, from trauma or decay, to be repaired. The Plano dentist and Melissa dentist will perform an extraction when a tooth becomes impacted because it is prevented from growing into its normal position in the mouth by gum tissue, bone or other teeth. Dr. Haight's first priority is to restore, save and repair your natural teeth. However, sometimes a tooth extraction is necessary. The dentist's at Haight Family Dentistry are dedicated to ensuring your visit is as comfortable and anxiety-free before, during, and after your extraction procedure.
Dr. Haight is skilled and experienced at tooth extraction when it's needed to prevent infections and or painful swelling. Prior to an extraction the dentist will perform an examination and perform the extraction typically in the same day, saving you time and making it convenient to your schedule.
Wisdom Tooth Extractions
Wisdom teeth are the molars in the back of your mouth that typically come in during your late teens or early twenties. If wisdom teeth don't have room to come in, or come in incorrectly, they can cause pain, crowding of your other teeth or problems in your jaw.
If a wisdom tooth emerges incorrectly, it is usually best to extract it. Dr. Haight can remove the impacted wisdom tooth. Infections resulting from impacted wisdom teeth can be initially treated with antibiotics. The most common treatment is wisdom tooth removal. The risks of wisdom tooth extractions are roughly proportional to the difficulty of the extraction.
Dr. Haight performs tooth extractions gently and carefully so that the tissue and bone around the extracted tooth are minimally impacted. This helps to eliminate discomfort after the extraction procedure and helps increase healing.
Each dental procedure we perform will be thoroughly discussed with you by our dentist and all questions you have answered prior to the start of your care. Please call us at 972-527-5555 if you have questions regarding a specific dental procedure or condition.
